I just want to start with saying I’m a huge fan of your music. I have even been lucky enough to chat with Pien a little on Twitter (I’m Mahakala39).

I’ll try to keep this short…

I recently started a nonprofit called A World Without FGM. Our goals are to work toward ending female genital mutilation (FGM) worldwide, as well as provide an array of services to victims and potential victims of FGM.

So, we’re about to launch our website soon, and I’d really like to get our campaign started off with a huge bang.

That said, I was wondering if there is any way whatsoever that you all (or even just one of you) would write and record a song regarding the tragic global epidemic of FGM and let us post a video of it on our upcoming website.

Our nonprofit wouldn’t be able to pay you. In fact, we don’t have any money at all. One thing we would certainly do, though, is promote you in every way possible, including selling your albums and merchandise on our website. Who knows, if you did this, it may dramatically increase your following in the countries that most often work with our organization (like the United States, UK, Brazil, etc.)

I know this is an odd request, but I think your amazing music would be a phenomenal way to speak out against this heinous human rights violation.

As you make your decision, please keep in mind that in Africa alone, a young girl has her genitals mutilated every 11 seconds. That’s more than 8,200 girls a day or 3 million girls each year.
